One can of soda has the equivalent of not two, not five, but TEN teaspoons of sugar. So if you’re a person that needs to monitor your blood sugar levels constantly, or you want to prevent developing diabetes, you should avoid soda at all costs.
Have you ever heard of phosphoric acid? Doesn’t sound good right? Well soda contains it and you’re right, it’s not good. It can inhibit your body’s normal functions such as absorbing calcium that could eventually lead to problems like osteoporosis and slowing digestion. How do we get the same great taste of soda without the potential problems that come along with it? Make your own!
I decided to make a homemade Sprite recipe because I didn’t feel like taking in all of the harmful ingredients that are found in this popular soda drink. Sprite contains high fructose corn syrup, sodium benzoate and no lemon or lime.
For this recipe I used fresh squeezed lemons which infused a lot of health benefits into this drink. Lemons are great for your heart, studies have shown that a diet rich is vitamin C help to prevent sicknesses like heart disease and stroke. Two chemicals in lemon also have been shown to lower cholesterol.
This recipe literally takes minutes to prepare and the health benefits will last you a lifetime if you make it everyday.
- 5 lemons juiced (seeds removed)
- 3 cups of ice
- 1 bottle of chilled Natural Mineral Water

- Place all of your ingredients into a large pitcher.
